very quickly for this shout and proceeded to the night time assistance
of a 23ft fishing vessel Rose o Mio. The vessel was stranded in
Swansea Bay and was attempting to make its way to Swansea Marina.

paged Mumbles ILB to the report of a 15 year old boy, who had fallen
from the promenade in Mumbles. The ILB assisted the Coastguard
Team and ambulance crew on the scene. The casualty suffered two
broken bones in the leg and was transferred to Hospital. |

the report of a fishing vessel trapped in netting 1/4 mile North of
station. The ILB attended scene and gave assistance to the boat by

The Jet Skier had
injured himself at sea in difficult sea conditions. He managed to
make it to the safety of the inner sound at Mumbles Head. Swansea
Coastguard paged the ILB, South Wales Air Ambulance, 1 Paramedic First
Responder, and the Ambulance Service teams. The Air Ambulance
landed on the causeway of the inner sound and transferred the casualty
to hospital.
This was the first service for the new
probationer Mark Jones.

The ILB was tasked to
a surfer who was attempting to swim out to the Mixon Sand Bank.
When arriving on scene it was apparent the surfer was unable to
comprehend the serious danger his actions could cause. Due to the
dangerous tidal affect in the area he was taken on board and returned to
the station. |

the process of being assessed for their competence by an RNLI trained
assessor when Swansea Coastguard tasked the ILB to a report of a person
in the water off the Observatory in Swansea. While on route to the
scene the ILB crew were told to stand down as the person was now safe. |

The crew were at
station carrying out routine maintenance work on the ILB when they
noticed a fishing vessel in difficulty off its mooring in Mumbles.
The Helm contact Swansea Coastguard who asked them to investigate the
concern. The crew assisted the vessel and returned to station. |

The ILB was tasked to
a report of a swimmer in difficulty in rough seas in Limeslade Bay.
The ILB raced to the scene and conducted a shoreline search in rough
breaking water while the ALB monitored the situation from deeper water.
While carrying out the search Swansea Coastguards received a 999 call
from the swimmer who had managed to swim ashore to explain he was safe
and well. The ILB and ALB returned to the calmer waters within the
Bay. |

The Cox of Mumbles
Lifeboat requested the ILB to launch to assist with the recovery of
Suzy-Q, a 50 feet power boat who was taking on water. The ALB had
recovered Suzy-Q from Oxwich Bay, but was unable to pull her into
shallow waters off Knab rock to allow her to dry and for the crew to
repair any damage. The ILB for 45 minute towed and then pushed
Suzy-Q into the best direction against the tide to allow access to the
damaged area of the boat. |

The ILB was tasked to
recover 2 people from Middle Island, Mumbles Head. On scene two
children who had walked out to the lighthouse were trapped by the
incoming tide. They managed to alert a fisherman who was on land
side who contact Swansea Coastguards. Both were returned to shore
safely. |

exercise when tasked by Swansea Coastguard to a call from a member of
the public regarding two windsurfers in distress off Blackpill. The ILB
attended the scene to find that both windsurfers had managed to swim
ashore through heavy sea's. |

The ILB was paged to a
vessel suffering with engine difficulties off Tutt Head, Mumbles.
The ILB transferred 1 crew member to the vessel and took two casualties
on board the ILB. On proceeding to take the tow, it was apparent
that the speed of 3.8 Knots was insufficient in the sea conditions.
The ALB launched to meet both boat at the Swigg Buoy and continue the
tow. The ILB then assisted berthing the vessel at Swansea marina
before returning to station. |

With the ALB and crew
in Gower, the ILB was tasked to an immediate launch to the report of a
swimmer in difficulty off Swansea County Hall. While on route to the
scene Mumbles Coastguards, who were on scene, reported via VHF a
sighting of a casualty 500 metres off shore and becoming tired.
The ILB arrived on scene at 18:44, the casualty had managed to swim
ashore, the ILB crew also landed to assess if any medical assistance was
required. |

After the launch of
Mumbles ALB the ILB was required to assist two people trapped on Middle
Island at Mumbles Head due to an incoming tide. The ILB recovered
the 2 people from the steps on middle island and transferred them back
to shore. |

were having difficulty reaching a casualty who had broken his ankle near
Langland Bay and was lying on rocks below the footpath. The ILB
retrieved the casualty from the sea and transferred him to an awaiting
ambulance.

attend a suicide attempt off the West Pier in Swansea. On arrival
at the scene the crew recovered a female body. The victim was
checked for vital signs of life, unfortunately the crew were unable to
offer and medical assistance. The crew passed the casualty to
South Wales Police and returned to station. |

While on exercise with
the stations new inshore lifeboat the crew were alerted to an All
Weather Lifeboat Shout. IB1, along with the boarding boat, which
was in the vicinity, headed back to the ALB station immediately. 4
Crew transferred from the inshore boats to the ALB and proceeded to
assist Yacht Wizard, which had suffered a fire on board. IB1
monitored the ALB towing the strickened Yacht and close to the Marina
took an alongside tow to return the vessel to its mooring berth in the
marina.

The vessel was suffering with engine failure and required assistance
returning to the shore. The ILB rigged a to and proceeded to
return Cymru to the Knabb Rock Slip. 2 Members of the Coastguard
Mobile team attended the scene. |

The ILB was tasked by
Swansea Coastguard to attend a "Mayday" call as part of the
Honda Powerboat Racing by Swansea Marina. Two powerboats collided
causing damage to the boat and 3 crew on board. The Mayday was
passed on VHF Channel 16, with ILB Crew Launching within 1 minute of
pagers being set off. During the Mayday Transmission Swansea
Coastguard lost signal with the sinking vessel, with 3 persons in the
water. The ILB attended the scene and gave medical assistance to a
casualty suffering with neck and head injuries. All three persons
were returned to shore where Wales Air Ambulance air lifted the casualty
to hospital.

Mumbles ILB was tasked
to assist the 15ft speedboat "Hazy Days" aground on rocks
after suffering engine failure with an onshore wind. The
Coastguard patrol boat "MCA Falcon" was already on-scene,
however due to draught restrictions was unable to get close enough to
the stranded vessel. The ILB crew assessed the situation an
elected to place a crew member on board Hazy Days to rig a tow.
The ILB proceeded to pull the vessel to deeper water, where MCA Falcon
took the three casualties aboard. The ILB then towed the
strickened boat to Swansea Marina. |

thrown overboard while rowing to his moored vessel. The ALB

Catamaran in difficulty off the sea front at South End. The ILB
manoeuvred alongside and rigged up an alongside tow. The ALB stood
off in the SE Force 6 as a precaution. The ILB towed the vessel
into deeper water and then on to Knabb Rock where it was recovered
ashore. |

Suffering with fuel
starvation Mumbles ILB was tasked to the scene of the "Red
Admiral" located 1/4 Mile off County Hall. With the
assistance of the Mumbles Auxillary Coastguard "Mumbles Alpha"
the ILB was directed to 150 yards from the Outfall Post in the bay.
The ILB crew entered the boat and ascertained a fuel leak was the cause
of the problem. The ILB rigged a tow and pulled the Red Admiral to
Knabb Rock. |

Mechanic during their normal duties at the Station observed a windsurfer
in difficulty waving his arms off Mumbles Pier. Due to conditions
he was rapidly drifting out with the tide. The ILB Crew were paged
at 9:30 and launched within 4 minutes, locating the windsurfer in
Bracelet Bay, after he had drifted through the Outer Sound at Mumbles
Head. The windsurfer was taken to safety and the ILB returned to
station. |

had spotted a small rowing boat in difficulty, the ILB assisted the

paged Mumbles ILB to assist a Fishing Vessel trapped with its anchor
warp wrapped around the propeller. The ILB arrived on scene and
quickly towed the craft to safety away from the rock surrounding Mumbles
Lighthouse. After returning the vessel to Knabb Rock the crew
assisted to free the anchor warp. |
