5th November 2004	17:30 18:30	Light Airs	Richie Webborn Mathew Williams Ben Williams	The crew were mustered very quickly for this shout and proceeded to the night time assistance of a 23ft fishing vessel Rose o Mio. The vessel was stranded in Swansea Bay and was attempting to make its way to Swansea Marina. The crew passed a line and proceeded to tow Rose o Mio to the Marina
22nd November 2004	19:25 19:50	S Force 2	Richard Jeffries Chris Jeffries Mike Jenkins	Swansea Coastguards paged the ILB to attend the West Pier, Swansea Marina to a report of a person in water. The ILB attended scene but was stood down by the auxiliary coastguards Mumbles Mobile. ILB returned to station.
20th October 2004	12:50 13:20	SE Force 5	Chris Jeffries Dan Wright James Fillery	Swansea Coastguard paged Mumbles ILB to the report of a 15 year old boy, who had fallen from the promenade in Mumbles. The ILB assisted the Coastguard Team and ambulance crew on the scene. The casualty suffered two broken bones in the leg and was transferred to Hospital.
6th October 2004	11:50 12:30	W Force 5	Steve Ace James Fillery Dan Wright	The ILB was tasked to the report of a fishing vessel trapped in netting 1/4 mile North of station. The ILB attended scene and gave assistance to the boat by towing it back to it mooring.
3rd October 2004	13:15 14:20	SW Force 5-7	James Bolter Dan Wright Mark Jones	The Jet Skier had injured himself at sea in difficult sea conditions. He managed to make it to the safety of the inner sound at Mumbles Head. Swansea Coastguard paged the ILB, South Wales Air Ambulance, 1 Paramedic First Responder, and the Ambulance Service teams. The Air Ambulance landed on the causeway of the inner sound and transferred the casualty to hospital. This was the first service for the new probationer Mark Jones.
17th September 2004	15:00 15:25	W Force 6	Rob Tovey Dan Wright Mathew Williams	The ILB was tasked to a surfer who was attempting to swim out to the Mixon Sand Bank. When arriving on scene it was apparent the surfer was unable to comprehend the serious danger his actions could cause. Due to the dangerous tidal affect in the area he was taken on board and returned to the station.
14th September 2004	17:25 17:30	W Force 4	Chris Howells Rob Tovey Chris Jeffries RNLI Assessor	The ILB crew were in the process of being assessed for their competence by an RNLI trained assessor when Swansea Coastguard tasked the ILB to a report of a person in the water off the Observatory in Swansea. While on route to the scene the ILB crew were told to stand down as the person was now safe.
11th September 2004	15:15 15:25	W Force 5-6	James Fillery James Bolter Richard Jeffries	The crew were at station carrying out routine maintenance work on the ILB when they noticed a fishing vessel in difficulty off its mooring in Mumbles. The Helm contact Swansea Coastguard who asked them to investigate the concern. The crew assisted the vessel and returned to station.
11th September 2004	15:40 16:30	SW Force 7-8	James Bolter Richard Jefferies Chris Jefferies	The ILB was tasked to a report of a swimmer in difficulty in rough seas in Limeslade Bay. The ILB raced to the scene and conducted a shoreline search in rough breaking water while the ALB monitored the situation from deeper water. While carrying out the search Swansea Coastguards received a 999 call from the swimmer who had managed to swim ashore to explain he was safe and well. The ILB and ALB returned to the calmer waters within the Bay.
8th September 2003	16:45 17:30	SE Force 3-4	Chris Howell Mathew Williams James Fillery	The Cox of Mumbles Lifeboat requested the ILB to launch to assist with the recovery of Suzy-Q, a 50 feet power boat who was taking on water. The ALB had recovered Suzy-Q from Oxwich Bay, but was unable to pull her into shallow waters off Knab rock to allow her to dry and for the crew to repair any damage. The ILB for 45 minute towed and then pushed Suzy-Q into the best direction against the tide to allow access to the damaged area of the boat.
3rd September 2004	18:10 18:26	W Force 3	Richard Jeffries Russell Davies James Bolter	The ILB was tasked to recover 2 people from Middle Island, Mumbles Head. On scene two children who had walked out to the lighthouse were trapped by the incoming tide. They managed to alert a fisherman who was on land side who contact Swansea Coastguards. Both were returned to shore safely.
8th August 2004	10:10 10:30	S E Force 5	James Bolter Mark Jones Chris Jeffries	The ILB was on exercise when tasked by Swansea Coastguard to a call from a member of the public regarding two windsurfers in distress off Blackpill. The ILB attended the scene to find that both windsurfers had managed to swim ashore through heavy sea's.
2nd August 2004	08:50 11:00	E Force 5	Richie Webborn Ben Shepherd Chris Jeffries	The ILB was paged to a vessel suffering with engine difficulties off Tutt Head, Mumbles. The ILB transferred 1 crew member to the vessel and took two casualties on board the ILB. On proceeding to take the tow, it was apparent that the speed of 3.8 Knots was insufficient in the sea conditions. The ALB launched to meet both boat at the Swigg Buoy and continue the tow. The ILB then assisted berthing the vessel at Swansea marina before returning to station.
1st August 2004	18:31 19:20	Light Airs	Rob Tovey Chris Jeffries Ben Williams	With the ALB and crew in Gower, the ILB was tasked to an immediate launch to the report of a swimmer in difficulty off Swansea County Hall. While on route to the scene Mumbles Coastguards, who were on scene, reported via VHF a sighting of a casualty 500 metres off shore and becoming tired. The ILB arrived on scene at 18:44, the casualty had managed to swim ashore, the ILB crew also landed to assess if any medical assistance was required.
31st July 200	16:33 16:50	Light Airs	Kevin Rees Chris Howells	After the launch of Mumbles ALB the ILB was required to assist two people trapped on Middle Island at Mumbles Head due to an incoming tide. The ILB recovered the 2 people from the steps on middle island and transferred them back to shore.
29th July 2004			Rob Tovey Dan Wright Mathew Williams	Swansea Coastguards were having difficulty reaching a casualty who had broken his ankle near Langland Bay and was lying on rocks below the footpath. The ILB retrieved the casualty from the sea and transferred him to an awaiting ambulance. Click Here For Photos
25th July 2004	15:35 16:10	NW Force 5-6	James Bolter Glyn Allen Ben Williams	Mumbles ALB tasked the ILB crew to attend the scene of a strickened Jet Ski. The ILB crew commenced to tow the vessel back to Knabb Rock. Due to the physical fatigue faced by the Jet Skier, he was transferred to the ALB for the duration of the service.
24th July 2004	12:00 12:45	Light Airs	Rob Tovey Glyn Allen Dan Wright	The ILB was asked to attend a suicide attempt off the West Pier in Swansea. On arrival at the scene the crew recovered a female body. The victim was checked for vital signs of life, unfortunately the crew were unable to offer and medical assistance. The crew passed the casualty to South Wales Police and returned to station.
18th July 2004	11:01 12:50	W Force 2	Steve Davies Ben Shepherd	While on exercise with the stations new inshore lifeboat the crew were alerted to an All Weather Lifeboat Shout. IB1, along with the boarding boat, which was in the vicinity, headed back to the ALB station immediately. 4 Crew transferred from the inshore boats to the ALB and proceeded to assist Yacht Wizard, which had suffered a fire on board. IB1 monitored the ALB towing the strickened Yacht and close to the Marina took an alongside tow to return the vessel to its mooring berth in the marina. 13th July 2004	05:40 06:15	NW Force 2 - 3	Richard Jefferies Chris Jefferies Russell Davies	Swansea Coastguard tasked Mumbles ILB following a report from Fishing Vessel Cymru. The vessel was suffering with engine failure and required assistance returning to the shore. The ILB rigged a to and proceeded to return Cymru to the Knabb Rock Slip. 2 Members of the Coastguard Mobile team attended the scene.
27th June 2004	12:36 13:45	SW Force 4	Richie Webborn James Bolter Emma Mathias	The ILB was tasked by Swansea Coastguard to attend a "Mayday" call as part of the Honda Powerboat Racing by Swansea Marina. Two powerboats collided causing damage to the boat and 3 crew on board. The Mayday was passed on VHF Channel 16, with ILB Crew Launching within 1 minute of pagers being set off. During the Mayday Transmission Swansea Coastguard lost signal with the sinking vessel, with 3 persons in the water. The ILB attended the scene and gave medical assistance to a casualty suffering with neck and head injuries. All three persons were returned to shore where Wales Air Ambulance air lifted the casualty to hospital. Click Here for more details.
24th June 2004	16:32 16:52	NW Force 5	Dai Thomas Dan Wright Mathew Williams	The crew were tasked to assist a Jetski which was suffering from engine failure. The crew located the jetski and passed a tow and proceeded to return to Knabb Rock Slipway.
15th June 2004	15:20 15:42		Emma Mathias Glyn Allen Dan Wright	Swansea Coastguard had recieved a report of 2 children in difficulty 50 metres off County Hall. The ILB proceeded to the scene and escorted 2 children to safety.
6th June 2004	18:15 18:30	Light Airs	Chris Jeffries Russell Davies Kirsten Collier	On returning to station a shore crew member explained that 2 persons were trapped on Middle Island with an incoming tide. The ILB proceeded to the Island, but were met by fisherman who's intention were to stay on the Island during the High Water. The ILB returned to station.
6th June 2004	18:00 18:10	Light Airs	Chris Jeffries Russell Davies Kirsten Collier	The ILB was tasked by Swansea Coastguard to a boat against the rocks at the East Pier near Swansea Marina. While on route to the scene a passing boat was able to throw a line to the casulaty and pull them to safety. The ILB was stood down.
6th June 2004	10:24 11:10	Light Airs	Chris Howells Dan Wright Mathew Williams	Whilst on exercise the ILB spotted a 16 ft power boat "Cymru" in distress off Mumbles Pier. The vessel was suffering with engine failure, drifting through the moorings. It was towed to Knabb Rock Slipway with 2 POB.
5th June 2004	16:15 18:00		Richard Jeffries Ben Shepherd James Bolter	Mumbles ILB was tasked to assist the 15ft speedboat "Hazy Days" aground on rocks after suffering engine failure with an onshore wind. The Coastguard patrol boat "MCA Falcon" was already on-scene, however due to draught restrictions was unable to get close enough to the stranded vessel. The ILB crew assessed the situation an elected to place a crew member on board Hazy Days to rig a tow. The ILB proceeded to pull the vessel to deeper water, where MCA Falcon took the three casualties aboard. The ILB then towed the strickened boat to Swansea Marina.
31st May 2004	17:01 17:45	SE Force 6	James Bolter Adam Bere Kirsten Collier	While landing the Catamaran (see below) the ALB has gone to recover a person who had been thrown overboard while rowing to his moored vessel. The ALB recovered all items and the ILB was used to return the casualty to shore and met by the Coastguards, who were also taking part in the display.
31st May 2004	16:36 17:00	SE Force 6	James Bolter Adam Bere Kirsten Collier	During the Swansea Bay Navy Days Display both ILB and ALB were asked to assist a small Catamaran in difficulty off the sea front at South End. The ILB manoeuvred alongside and rigged up an alongside tow. The ALB stood off in the SE Force 6 as a precaution. The ILB towed the vessel into deeper water and then on to Knabb Rock where it was recovered ashore.
23rd May 2004	20:26 21:00		Glyn Allen Ben Williams Chris Jeffries	The ILB was launched to recover a small power boat in difficulty between Mumbles Pier and the Lighthouse. The ILB rigged a tow to Knabb Rock where they were met by Swansea Coastguards. Machinery failure was the cause of the launch.
23rd May 2004	19:10 20:00		Ben Shepherd Emma Mathias James Bolter	Suffering with fuel starvation Mumbles ILB was tasked to the scene of the "Red Admiral" located 1/4 Mile off County Hall. With the assistance of the Mumbles Auxillary Coastguard "Mumbles Alpha" the ILB was directed to 150 yards from the Outfall Post in the bay. The ILB crew entered the boat and ascertained a fuel leak was the cause of the problem. The ILB rigged a tow and pulled the Red Admiral to Knabb Rock.
21st May 2004	09:34 09:58		Dai Thomas Glyn Allen Spike Jenkins	Both the Coxswain and Mechanic during their normal duties at the Station observed a windsurfer in difficulty waving his arms off Mumbles Pier. Due to conditions he was rapidly drifting out with the tide. The ILB Crew were paged at 9:30 and launched within 4 minutes, locating the windsurfer in Bracelet Bay, after he had drifted through the Outer Sound at Mumbles Head. The windsurfer was taken to safety and the ILB returned to station.
7th May 2004	17:32 18:05	NE Force 4	Simon Evans James Bolter Russell Davies	The helm was walking along Mumbles Pier Road and spotted a power boat in difficulty 150 yards off shore. He contacted the Coastguards who paged the crew to attend. The power boat and the 3 POB were safely returned to the Knabb Rock Slip. While returning to station a Crew Member on shore had spotted a small rowing boat in difficulty, the ILB assisted the fisherman to his mooring and then back to the slip.
2nd May 2004	11:00 11:22	Calm and Fine	Richie Webborn Adam Bere Kirsten Butler	While on exercise the ILB spotted a power boat in difficulty. On further investigation it was found the boat was suffering with transmission failure and was subsequently towed back to the slipway. 2 Persons on board.
21st April 2004	21:00	Slight Swell	Richard Jeffries Adam Bere Mike Jenkins	Swansea Coastguard paged Mumbles ILB to assist a Fishing Vessel broken down with 2 persons onboard, drifting in Swansea Bay with a split fuel pipe. The ILB located the boat and once arrived on scene, towed the craft to safety at Knabb Rock Slipway in Mumbles.
16th April 2004	16:55 17:15	Calm, overcast.	James Bolter Mathew Williams Ben Shepherd	Swansea coastguard received calls from the public reporting children in difficulty in the sea near Langland Bay. The ILB attended the scene, however the swimmers were not in any difficulty. Crew maintained watch until the swimmers returned to shore.
6th March 2004	15:47 16:00	N Force 3	Richie Webborn Chris Jefferies Mike Jenkins	Person trapped on Lighthouse Island by an incoming tide. The person was returned to land safely.
19th February 2004	15:03 15:33	E Force 4	James Bolter Richard Jeffries Chris Jeffries	Swansea Coastguard paged Mumbles ILB to a report of 2 children trapped on rocks in Caswell Bay. The ILB attended the scene and were informed by the Mobile Coastguards that both Children managed to climb to safety.
14th January 2004	14:52	S - SW Force 6-7	Ben Williams Dai Thomas Chris Jeffries	Swansea Coastguard paged Mumbles ILB to assist a Fishing Vessel trapped with its anchor warp wrapped around the propeller. The ILB arrived on scene and quickly towed the craft to safety away from the rock surrounding Mumbles Lighthouse. After returning the vessel to Knabb Rock the crew assisted to free the anchor warp.
